Fly Fishing on the Shadowy St. Joe River
The St. Joe River offers some of the best trout fishing you are likely to find. There are few places where wild cutthroat trout grow so plump and abundant as the back country of the St. Joe National Forest, and few fisherman who ever experience its pleasures.
The St. Joe Lodge is located five miles up a trail closed to motorized vehicles but filled with wildlife and scenery. In the pools and riffles of the river, just a short walk from the camp itself, its not unusual to find cutthroat of 18 inches or better.
Rustic Comfort
Built in the 1940’s, the St. Joe Lodge is not only a terrific retreat; it’s a historic landmark on the upper St. Joe. Though not a luxury resort or dude ranch, the Lodge offers good home cooking served family-style, hot showers, and comfortable cabins with wood heat.
